Does anyone know what happened to the Twin Lakes Swim and Tennis Club in North Stamford? The club appears to be totally abandoned for over a year. I can find no mention of it being for sale online and their website does not work.
The club used to house indoor and outdoor clay tennis courts and two pools. I was never a member but I recall someone saying it was something like $1800 per person per year, plus initiation costs. Sounds kinda steep just for the privileges of using a pool…especially with the ocean nearby. Anyway, I was curious what the owners of this property intend to do with it.

It’s been closed for quite some time, and up for sale. A lot of the families joined the same club I go to last summer, after Twin Lakes closed.
I remember researching this a year ago or so - I just found the URL below using Google Desktop. I am not sure how current the information is now.

I was a member. For NINE years. It was a home to me and I miss it terribly. So any of you people who “think” you’re making an investment, think again. Your ripping apart my childhood, and many others. Nine years is a long time, and no, the fee wasn’t cheap. I created a home away from home there for so long, and to see some of you people try to take it away, makes me nautious and depressed. So try to put a price on that. There’s nothing I can do now. I can’t revive my life by buying it, nor can I go back for a day. I just remember a typical afternoon perfectly. I know every tree’s place, ever piece of cobblestone, and basically everbody. Sick society ruins it. So thanks. Thankyou to all of you who by any means contributed to this disaster. I am 13 by the way. So don’t think this is some cranky adult. I’m a kid who has an empty space in ym mind, where memories are slowly fading away.
Some info that has come to me is that TL was closed due to a pending lawsuit by a disgruntled contractor. that is to bad because it was a really nice place as were the people who owned it.
I am heart broken. Twin Lakes has some of my most precious childhood memories. I only wish I could give my children the same. I don’t know why she closed but I do know for whatever reason it was not worth the loss for our children and even us adults who cherished every moment. Summer just won’t be the same. Shame on those who made this happen.
I, too, am sad to see it closed. It was a great place. Watch the McMansions pop up now as Stamford and the rest of the world edges closer to Crapville.
Got to find a way to step outside our greed a bit.
Does anyone now who is the owner of the property right now?
if you know the property address, go here and find out

Looks like the property has not yet been sold — still owned by Twin Lakes Swim Club. I too have wonderful memories of the place — I spent summers there from the time I was nine until we changed to Roxbury when I was around 16. And worked at the snack bar there for several years — learned to handle a cash register and to be a short-order cook for the lunchtime rush
Roxbury was never “home” to me the way Twin Lakes was. My parents kept playing winter tennis at Twin Lakes for years after that, under the bubble.
