The Authoritative Blog on Stamford Connecticut

Thank you Stamford for reconstructing exit 34 of the Merritt Parkway. This exit use to be a death trap to some drivers exiting Northbound. Now they have replaced it with a long ramp which does not require a 70mph to 15mph de-acceleration in 100 feet. The city has also updated the stop lights and traffic patterns around this exit on Long Ridge. These changes have gone a long way to improve traffic flow in the area.
Anyway, since basically every post on this blog has been negative thus far, I though I would share something that Stamford has actually gotten right!

I used this new exit from the northbound side of the Merritt today. That’s a very nice improvement to the traffic flow.
The exit ramp felt like it went on forever, but given the volume of traffic coming down to Long Ridge, it’s a necessary distance.
Just don’t try to turn south onto Long Ridge from Wire Mill Road at this intersection during rush hour. There is no dedicated turn signal, so maybe two or three cars can turn during the yellow. Otherwise, too much traffic coming off the ramp to make the turn.
